Solar Power

Fully stand alone solar powered with 3-celled lithium battery backup and low power contigencies.

LED Indicator

An LED strip visible from the road indicates the state of the meter, including if a spot has been reserved through the app.

Resilient

Weather proofed using material design and a heated screen and button to protect from the elements.

Wifi & GPS

Integrated hidden wifi and GPS attenas to contact app and other meters in order for dynamic rates to function as intended.

Speakers

On board speaker for audio alerts and instantaneous warning systems. Can be used to give directions for the visually impaired.

Sensors

Dual sensor for detecting user and parked vehicle to properly compile time-out data and parking violations.

Ideation

When analyzing current problem revolving around parking and parking meters it became obvious very quick that one meter can not do the job for all locations.

Despite integrating modern aspects, web connectivity and state of the art technology it remains important to include variations on the designs to accept cash, work with apps, and become wheelchair accessible.

Intuitive Design

The single button design incorporates an adaptive screen above and on the button.
Push - Functioning as a generic button, the push feature can be used to confirm or select an option.
Rotate - Navigate through preferences by rotating the knurled dial.
Haptics - The mechanic nature of the button provides haptic feedback as you rotate through to make selections.

User-Centered Design

Parkway meters are developed with the user in mind. With the ability to autonomously reserve a spot with the app or use an available meter in person, ParkWay becomes the perfect tool for any user to find a spot,  reserve a spot and pay.

Safety

Your vehicle will be in good hands in one of parkway's many spots. Go about your day without worry of a break in or hit and run. Each meter is equipped with sensors that can detect if your vehicle has been removed from its spot and send an alert through the app. The meter’s built-in camera automatically records your vehicle's stay and saves it for you up to a week. For any form of vandalism against your property it's no longer your word versus theirs, but their word versus parkway.

Concept

The brilliance behind parkway is that it performs perfect price discrimination, the supply of parking spots always meets the demand. That way, you’ll never pay more than you have to in low demand areas at low demand times, and there will never run out of spots in high demand areas at high demand times. Using live data compiled from the on site meters, Parkway is able to provide you with real time pricing.

App Integration

Feel free to try out the prototype app and experience the physical user experience in a simple usage cycle animation.

Upon arrival at your spot, the parkway meter will detect your vehicle and lock in your price for the duration of your stay. Gone are the days of overpaying for parking, gone is the fear of being towed. Imagine not having to run back to your car because your meeting ran late. Well imagine no more, using the parkway mobile app we’ve got your back, you only pay for the exact amount of time you spend in your parking spot down to the minute and you never run out of time.
