The challenge of innovation.
Problem
Battery users are often found storing their batteries in original packaging provided by the manufacturer. This can lead to spills, choking hazards, and mistaking empties for fulls. Current methods of storing batteries, tend to be expensive, or inconvenient.
Solution
Using similar flat sheet-based materials from original packaging can provide the user with an inexpensive, user oriented, easy to use product, that can provide a safer environment.
Ideation
Originating with an expensive, large, battery shaped design. The iterating process replaced expensive materials with inexpensive, easy to mass produce, cheap materials such as lightweight cardboard. The Batterola is able to act as packing for shipping, marketing, and then usage!
Final Product
Sold fully assembled from the factory, designed with brand values and colors for selling directly off the shelf, and seconds away from removing the retail sticker and using the product.
The Design
The unique foldable design, made from cardboard and manufactored inexpensibly, incoporates a battery dispensing mechanism, and a reliable safe storage solution.
Manufactoring
The product is made from laser cut cardboard, glue, and a single spring. All with manufacturing costs remain similar to the current packaging options.
Variation
The battery dispenser comes in multiple sizes, available for AA, AAA and 9V in sizes 8x, 12x and 20x. Ready to use right off the shelf, and made from recyclable materials.
The Mechanism
Originally designed fully from cardboard, later a spring added for long term durability, this mechanism is extremely simple and reliable.
