Original Product Analysis

The Tear Down

A inexpensive humidifier was pulled apart separating the electronic components from the housing. Measurements were taken from important components, and notes were taken of materials used.

The Components

Many crucial components were extracted from the product, including electronics, mechanical parts and crucial pieces of plastic such as a straw, or conductor holders. The components were measured and 3D modeled for the product redesign.

The Design

The completely button less design incorporates a simple turn switch, rotating the humidifiers shell 90 degrees will activate a timed humidification sequence as well as the LED's so the water start to glow.

Final Product

Refilling the product is made easy using a watering can, glass or even water bottle refill. At all times you can see the water level through the visible slit and recharge from the port located on the base of the unit.

Prototype

Assembly

Cutouts are molded to allow for pieces to fit together during the gluing process.

Rubber Base

The rubber gasket elastically holds to the base and adds friction between the product and ground.

Integration

Threaded bosses placed at correct intervals a reused to mount circuit board.
